Avatars

I've always figured that the avatar feature of this site was broken, since none of the regulars have avatars, and the image I uploaded never appeared in my profile (if I remember right it did appear right after I uploaded it, but was gone the next time I logged in). But now I see that Colin Ward does have an avatar, and looking back at recent posts I see that polluks does as well. Is there some secret method to uploading an avatar and having it appear?

Unable to create account for wiki

I was trying to register an account for the wiki but this doesn't work. I only can see the login (which I can't obviously) and when I click on the create account link, I get an error saying that I'm not allowed to do that.

Also I wonder if there is no documentation for the operating system functions, as I only found rather high level explanations but no details about the librarlies like exec.library, dos.library, etc. function calls.

What we can do to make OS4Coding even better?

Hello to all,
8 years passed since we launch OS4Coding.net for all the AmigaOS 4 developers out there. The reason we build this website is to create a place where the developers could find information gathered and people to help them with their experience.

We would like to ask you what would you like to change/remove/add at the website. Please, give us you ideas and proposals on how to make this website even better.

There are a few ideas that we are working on:

Major website update

Today we updated the website to a newer version of the CMS. Now it uses Drupal 7 against the older Drupal 6.

Many pages are still not updated, but are working just fine. They just need some love on the theming, something that we are working. So the next days you will see changes on the visual aspect.

Some accounts might have a few avatar images wrong. You better update your avatar and fix it.

In case you have a serious problems with using the new version of OS4coding.net, please, mention below or contact us.

Social Media Plugin Overload

Do we really need so many social media plugins on this site?

Tweet, Facebook Like, General one?

I mean do we really following this stuff on twitter and FB?

It really helps to slow things down on a SAM using OWB.

[edit]
I'm talking about the row imediatly below this post, I recon they about a megabyte of javascript and over download to the page total, and they revent scrolling propelry etc till they are done.

If this were a media related site I would undertstand it but it a small niche coding platform.

Fighting Spam phase 2

I really need to apologize for the problems that the antispam code made to you all guys. There seems that it deleted posts and user accounts that it shouldn't. Today we disabled the code that did those deletions.

We also created a new user role, where all the active users were added. This, user role is in a whitelist, which the antispam code doesn't check again. You all have the same permissions as you did. But now the rest of the spam registrations will not have any permission to post any content. So there won't be any spam posts again.

Published or Unpublished blog content

We introduced a new feature for your blog posts, that you requested. Now you can publish or unpublish your blog posts. This way you can write a blog post and keep it unpublished, in case you want to finish it later. Blog posts that you keep unpublished you can find at your account first page, in the section "My blog posts".

Your CAPTCHA is virtually unreadable

Congratulations on making your CAPTCHA almost unreadable to humans, let alone robots. If your aim is to drive away the users of this site, then you are well on your way to achieving this goal :-(

Really, it's the worst CAPTCHA I've ever seen, anywhere, period. I had to guess at half of the letters/numbers (of which there are quite a few), such that I'm really amazed that I actually managed to log in at all (after some attempts). And I might simply not bother trying next time.

Are you aware of this feature?

I would like to be sure that you know that there is a feature at OS4Coding.net were you can add a source code and then spread it's URL anywhere you need.

You can do that using an option at the user menu at the right, called "Create content > Source code". There you will find a title and a text area to insert your code. Under this, you will find a select box where you can choose the programming language of this code, so that the formating and syntax highlighting will be accurate.
